Make a Difference

Remember, dreams without goals are just dreams and they ultimately fuel disappointment. Have dreams, but have goals, life goals, yearly goals, monthly goals, daily goals. I try to give myself a goal every day.

Understand to achieve these goals you must apply discipline and consistency. You have to work at it every day. You have to plan every day. You’ve heard the saying “We don’t plan to fail, we fail to plan.” Hard work works. Working really hard is what successful people do.

Remember that just because you’re doing a lot more doesn’t mean you’re getting a lot more done. Don’t confuse movement with progress. My mother told me “Yeah you can run in place all the time and never get anywhere.

Continue to strive, continue to have goals, continue to progress and anything you want good, you can have. Claim it, work hard to get it, when you get it, reach back, pull someone else up. Each one teach one. Don’t just aspire to make a living. Aspire to make a difference.

Fail early, Fail often, Fail forward.

It’s always a little bit frustrating to me when people have a negative relationship with failure. Failure is a massive part of being able to be successful.

You have to get comfortable with failure, you have to actually seek failure – failure is where all of the lessons are.

You know, when you go to the gym and you work out, you’re actually seeking failure – you want to take your muscles to the point where you get to failure because that’s there the adaptation is and that’s where growth is.

Successful people fail a lot, they fail a whole lot more than they succeed. They extract the lessons from the failure and they use the energy and the wisdom to come around to the next phase of success.

You’ve gotta take shot, you’ve got to live at the edge of your capabilities. You gotta live where you’re almost certain that you’re going to fail.

That’s the reason for practice. Practice is controlled failure, you’re getting to your limit, getting to your limit, getting to your limit. You can’t lift that, you can’t do that until you get to the point that all of a sudden your body makes the adjustment and then you can do it.

Failure actually helps you to recognize the areas where you need to evolve.

Health Hot Spot

  1. 1-2 hours before bed, turn off all blue light-emitting devices.  Melatonin regulates your sleep, and blue light from your electronic devices suppresses melatonin production.
  2. Charge your phone in another room to avoid the temptation to check it at night.
  3. Stop eating a few hours before bedtime.  Digestion can interrupt sleep.
  4. Take an after-dinner walk.
  5. Use lavender oil (relaxes you for sleep) or lemon balm oil (reduces restlessness and anxiety) in a warm bath or diffuser.
  6. Buy a supportive mattress and a comfortable pillow/sheets.
  7. Keep your bedroom temperature cool.
  8. Buy blackout curtains for your windows.
  9. Keep your room environment quiet.  A white noise or pink noise generator can help.
  10. Do a breathing exercise/meditation to help calm your thoughts.
  11. Reduce your caffeine intake, especially after 12:00 p.m.
  12. Get outside in the morning to expose yourself to the morning light.  Morning light increases quality sleep and lowers feelings of stress.
